Moving overseas for research – a senior researcher perspective
In this podcast, Prof. Pierantonio Laveneziana provides an insight into his experiences of being a researcher overseas. Prof. Laveneziana is a senior career researcher based in France with an interest in exploring the pathophysiology, mechanisms and language of dyspnoea as well as the ventilatory, respiratory mechanics and gas exchange responses to exercise in patients with chronic respiratory disease. Having completed his medical training in his native Italy, Prof. Laveneziana embarked on research fellowships in Canada and the USA before ending up in his current academic position in France. This podcast will be of interest to academics, clinicians, and trainees who maybe considering moving to a new country for academic, clinical and/or research purposes, and may also appeal to supervisors who maybe taking on a trainee from another country. This podcast will be sure to cover the successes and challenges, both personally and professionally, of moving to a new country to undertake research.
